SHIFTS: 12hr and 8hr

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

•High school diploma or equivalent

•One year experience in a similar setting

•CA CNA certification required

•Current BLS certification

•Demonstration of good reading comprehension, accurate spelling, and legible handwriting

•Demonstration of effective and diplomatic oral communication

POSITION PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of a RN or direction of a LVN, works cooperatively with all team members in planning and performing basic nursing care.  The Certified Nurse Assistant is accountable for all patient care he/she gives and is responsible for adhering to all standards of care and for promoting teamwork among coworkers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Implements the patient care plan by providing direct patient care for those patients assigned including but not limited to the following activities: gives baths, oral hygiene, skin care, backrubs, assists patients in ambulating, positions patients and changes position appropriately according to care plan instructions, ensures patients receive prescribed diet, assists with feedings as needed, places tray conveniently for patient, collects specimens as instructed using appropriate technique, takes vital signs and notifies RN/LVN of any change or abnormal finding, assists/performs treatments as directed by RN/LVN including: weights enemas, foley care, application of binders, FSBS, sitz baths, and others as directed, provides post mortem care

Assists the RN/LVN with the following:

•care of patient in traction, application of restraints, observation of IVs, draping, for examination and treatment of patients, application and monitoring of oxygen, ensuring bedrails are up on medicated and or confused patients, assisting with postoperative coughing, turning, and deep breathing, and transporting of patients.
